About

Steve

Steve comes from 40 years in the painting industry and liked it so much that he decided to buy Mr. Decorating in 2015!

Home renovations can be stressful and so Steve hopes to solve people's problems through great painting and decorating work with an expert team and clear communication.

When he's not at work, Steve has a love for motorcycles and spending time with Alison and their friends and family.

What do you enjoy  most about the work you do?

I like the freedom to do the work I choose to do

What does a day at Mr. Decorating look like for you?

7:15 coffee, get staff/gear and jobs ready for the day, coffee, answer the phone, price work, coffee. Check on job progress, answer the phone, coffee, price work, check jobs, answer the phone, order gear for tomorrow, coffee, check and see if it's home time (no), more coffee.

What's your proudest  moment at Mr. Decorating?

Watching the guys grow and improve their skills.

What values does Mr. Decorating instill in the team?

Pride in their work. Always trying to make the whole team better. Training.

Where do you see the industry heading in the next 5-10 years?

There will be issues finding skilled trades people unless there's a stronger push at the high school level to introduce the option of moving into apprenticeships for all trades. Houses will always need to be built and painted... how many tradespeople is it going to take considering the housing shortage we currently face, what will it look like in 5-10 years?

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Time with Alison and friends, motorcycling.

Anything else you wanted to say?

You build people before you can build a business and we have a great team.
